December is nearing its end and so is the deadline for filing Income Tax for Financial Year 2019-2020. The deadline to file I-T returns by individual taxpayers for the 2019-20 fiscal (AY 2020-21) ends on December 31, while the same for taxpayers whose accounts require to be audited is January 31, 2021. So, if you haven’t filed you tax returns, rush! Because Income tax sleuths are keeping a watch.
In order to alert citizen and update them with the latest figures of Income Tax returns filed by them so far, Income Tax India took to Twitter posted, “ Have you filed your Income Tax Return for AY 2020-21 yet? Wait no more..file TODAY! More than 4.06 crore Income Tax Returns for AY 2020-21 have already been filed till 25th of December, 2020
Income Tax India also gave a comparative figure of AY 2020-21 and AY 2019-20 till December 25.
As per Income Tax India, as many as 2,31,18,444 persons filed their income tax return (ITR-1) as on December 25 in AY 2020-21 against 2,41,06165 in AY 2019-20.
Similarly, 29,53,093 persons filed their ITR-2 as on December 25 in AY 2020-21 against 31,53,549 in AY 2019-20 for the same date.
While 48,24,024 persons filed ITR-3 till December 25 in AY 2020-21 against 45,84,769 in AY 2019-20 during the same corresponding period.
As many as 87,53,655 tax payers, 6,04,415 persons, 291,771 and 89,228 persons filed ITR-4, ITR-5, ITR-6 and ITR-7 respectively till December 25 in AY 2020-21. In AY 2019-20; 78,35,838; 3,14,127; 16,949, and 31, 813 persons had filed ITR-4, ITR-5, ITR-6 and ITR-7 till December 25.
